New Investment Choice with effect from 1 June 2025

The CIRT Trustee are introducing a CIRT Lifestyle option with effect from 1 June 2025. This will be an additional option for members to consider but it will become the default strategy for all new members to CIRT with effect from 1 June 2025.

Why offer a Lifestyle Strategy?

The Trustee review the arrangement regularly. It is noted that is now considered best practice to have a lifestyle strategy approach as the default investment strategy noting that as members get closer to retirement, it becomes increasingly important to protect savings and gradually move to a more conservative investment strategy. In line with this, the Trustee is offering the CIRT Lifestyle strategy to members.

What is a Lifestyle Strategy?

A Lifestyle Strategy may be suitable for members who intend to transfer their retirement accounts to an Approved Retirement Fund (ARF) at retirement instead of purchasing a pension. This strategy is based on gradual de-risking of investment strategy over the last 7 years prior to a member’s normal retirement age (NRA). Ongoing future contributions would also be invested in accordance with the CIRT Lifestyle matrix with effect from the switch date. The member’s fund will rebalance at yearly intervals thereafter.

Key Features of the CIRT Lifestyle Strategy:

  • Growth-Oriented: Invests 100% in the CIRT Multi Asset Fund until seven years before your NRA aiming for long-term growth.? The assumed NRA for this strategy is age 65.
  • Gradual De-Risking: Beginning seven years prior to your NRA, 5% of your Retirement Account will be annually and automatically transferred from the CIRT Multi Asset Fund to the CIRT Cash Fund. This gradual shift continues until retirement, balancing growth potential with risk reduction as you approach retirement.
